Abbott
Birthday: May 28
Raised in: Bloomington, Indiana
Growing up, P.J. was involved with many forms of racing, from Moto-Cross
to the world of Karting, while idolizing the Kinser family and many other
great Hoosier legends.
His major course of study in college was a B.S. focused on Electronics
Engineering (avionics), with a dual minor course of study in Marketing &
Communications. After college, P.J. enlisted in the United States Marine
Corps. and excelled quickly to through the ranks. He received a commission
as a 2nd Lieutenant and held various command and staff positions, enjoying
a very successful tour of 11 years, ending his career at the rank of
Captain. He resigned his commission
for opportunity in the private sector in 1996.
P.J. is partnering with Mike Sauce Motorsports in order to participate in
the Formula Pro-Series, and he is currently working with Sam Schmidt
Motorsports on limited participation in 2004 and a full season in the 2005
IRL IPS circuit.
P.J. has an additional opportunity to partner with Eshelmman Racing for
potential opportunities in the NASCAR Busch Series. He currently holds driving
licenses in the NASCAR Grand National Series, the IRL’s Infiniti
Pro-Series, and the SCCA’s Pro-Formula Series.
In addition to his "grass roots" experience in racing, P.J. has attended
many clinics and driving schools, including the Andretti Racing School,
the Russell Formula Racing Driver's Academy and many others.
