PJ Racing Stockton – August 14 PJ
gets good news for race in Stockton, California, he will be racing under
the #11 car for the California race. PJ has always had #11 on his go-karting,
Formula Continental & Atlantic, and his Pro-Formula cars, and he is
excited to have the #11 on the NASCAR.
NASCAR Irwindale Race July 31, 2004 On Saturday, PJ and the CyberWize Chevrolet Monte Carlo TEAM faced their toughest challenge. Prior to the first and most crucial practice session, the team discovered a mechanical issue. The repairs were extensive, causing the team to miss the session. Once out on the track, the team faced another challenge as PJ's radio communication relayed a major vibration in the car. A drive train problem forced the TEAM to fail to take advantage of the second call to the track. The crew worked to get the car set up as the final practice session approached. On lap three of the final practice session, and while working the times into a range beyond the provisional cut, the team watched another dilemma unfold. While speeding down the backstretch, into the entry to turn #3, the CyberWize Chevy blew a right rear tire, forcing a spin and came in contact with the turn #4 wall. "That was some driving--we saw the car suddenly come around, and start heading for the wall directly backwards. He controlled the car and limited the damage by hitting almost sideways,” said one fan observing the incident. The TEAM went to work to repair the damage and ready the car for qualifying. "The car was really tight all day; we needed a few more laps to get it dialed in," said PJ. The TEAM provided a car for the qualification round. PJ's first lap was 0.5 seconds faster than the final practice lap of the day and his second qualifying lap was 0.3 faster than the first. Needing a 19.3 to miss the provisional cut and qualify on time, the CyberWize TEAM scored a 19.46. "He drove the wheels off what he had," stated crew chief Tim Mc Millian. "We could hear the push in the car from the stands," said Jack Schneider, a fan from Phoenix. "This TEAM is awesome; each crew member kept digging, and reaching for more. I am very proud to be associated with each of them, we came up just a little short” PJ said of the TEAM's efforts. |
